Parasailing, luging, rafting, jetboating... Queenstown felt like one giant adrenaline theme park. And as the birthplace of bungee jumping, it just might be the world's adventure capital after all. Queenstown felt like a really special place, but then again, I'm really partial to mountain / lake towns. We spent our free time walking around the beautiful lake. It was nice to take a shower, do my hair, and put on a dress for a change :) #travel #nz #queenstown #mountains #lake #nature #scenery

Day three included more bridges, tide crossings, and beaches. I've decided that I'm definitely into the remote beach lifestyle. We also started making trail friends at this point. This first photo was taken for me by the lovely @einatisraeli on her way home via water taxi. We relaxed during the day at the beach near Awaroa Lodge while waiting for the low tide so we could cross to our hut. The employees at the lodge looked us over up and down several times in disgust (I don't know how much it was to stay at the lodge, but they knew we couldn't afford it). Whatever, three glasses of rosé later and we couldn't be bothered by their looks. #newzealand #travel #awaroa #abeltasman #beach #hike #bridge #nz

Day two of Abel Tasman included suspension bridges, lunch with a view, and a stay at Bark Bay hut. Our first tide crossing was a success and we were starting to get the hang of the window around low tide during which we could cross. We luckily wore sandals because we quickly found out that when during the lowest point of low tide, you might be ankle or knee deep in a crossing. Sunset and views from our amazing floating hostel at Anchorage bay @aquabackpackers. Jane and Mark are generous hosts who made us a filling dinner and the best pancakes we ever had for breakfast. They had hot showers, games, and plenty of conversation. They also took us out to shore in the morning and made sure we were ok for the tide crossing (this was our first tide crossing on the track and in real life so we had no idea what we were doing). #travel #nz #hike #hostel #backpacking #newzealand #sunset #views #boat #blitzitnz2020

We are both in love with the snow, and so everyone assured us that even if we move to California, we could always drive to the snow. Excitedly, we drove to Yosemite! While there wasn't even enough snow to do the full Crane Flat 3 mile trail in snow shoes, I'm still very excited that we got to experience any snow at all. I hope you achieved all your 2018 goals, or at least some of them 😄 my only achievement was seeing the snow this year, but that's ok! There's always next year. My husband bending over to tie his shoe on yesterday's hike. We walked 6.75 miles of the tahoe rim trail in perfect hiking weather yesterday (40-50 Fahrenheit). We were surprised to find everything past half a mile on the trail completely empty of other people. Most people parked on the trailhead and headed up to Castle Rock (under a mile from the trailhead). We originally tried to go for Genoa Peak but realized it was twelve miles round trip and we didn't have time for it so we turned around at 3.5 miles out. The rim trail itself is relatively flat and very walkable / non technical. The temperature varies wildly between the shade and sunny parts. #hike #tahoerimtrail #laketahoe #california
